# Terms of Service **Effective Date:** July 23, 2025 These Terms of Service (“**Terms**”) govern your access to and use of the Northlog application (the “**App**”), available at [web.northlog.app](https://web.northlog.app), the Apple App Store, and other app stores, and any related services (collectively, the “**Service**”). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not use the Service. --- ### 1. About Northlog Northlog is a digital pilot logbook application that allows pilots to log flights, track currency, generate professional PDF exports, and sync data across devices. The App is developed and operated by **Northlog**. The Service is available on iPhone, iPad, and the web, with Android support coming soon. --- ### 2. Account Registration #### 2.1 Account Types You can use Northlog in three ways: - **Guest account** — Use the app without providing an email address. Your data is stored under a guest user ID and synced across devices via InstantDB. You can upgrade to a registered account at any time, and your guest data will be preserved. - **Email account** — Register with your email address using a magic code sent to your inbox. - **Social accounts** — Sign in with Google (OAuth 2.0 with PKCE) or Apple (Sign in with Apple, iOS only). #### 2.2 Account Security You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activities that occur under your account. You must immediately notify us at [support@northlog.app](mailto:support@northlog.app) of any unauthorized use of your account or other breach of security. #### 2.3 Account Deletion You can permanently delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Upon deletion, all your data will be removed from active systems within 30 days, as described in our [Privacy Policy](/privacy). --- ### 3. License Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not: - Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works of the Service - Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service - Use the Service to store or transmit data that is unlawful, harmful, or infringes third-party rights - Interfere with or disrupt the Service - Bypass any security features of the Service --- ### 4. Subscriptions & Payments #### 4.1 Free Tier Northlog offers a free tier that allows you to log up to 20 flight hours. Once you reach this limit, you can no longer log new flights until you upgrade to Pro or wait for the limit to reset (if applicable). You can still view, export, and manage your existing data in read-only mode. #### 4.2 Pro Subscription To log unlimited flights, you can subscribe to a Pro plan. Pro subscriptions are managed by **RevenueCat** and billed through the Apple App Store, Google Play Store, or web payment provider. Available plans include weekly, monthly, and yearly options. Prices are displayed in the app before you subscribe. #### 4.3 Billing - Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period - You can manage your subscription through your platform’s subscription settings (e.g., Apple ID settings, Google Play Store) - Refunds are subject to the policies of the platform through which you purchased the subscription #### 4.4 Changes to Pricing We may change the price of Pro subscriptions at any time. If we do, we will notify you through the app or by email before the change takes effect. Your continued use of the Service after a price change does not constitute acceptance of the new price. --- ### 5. Data Ownership #### 5.1 Your Data You retain all rights to the data you store in Northlog, including your flight records, profile information, and exports. Northlog does not claim ownership of your data. #### 5.2 License to Use Your Data By using the Service, you grant Northlog a limited license to use your data solely to: - Store and sync your data across devices - Generate PDF exports on your behalf - Provide and improve the Service - Respond to your support requests We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for their marketing purposes. #### 5.3 Export Data PDF exports you generate are stored in InstantDB Storage under your user ID. You can download, share, or delete these exports at any time. --- ### 6. Third-Party Services The Service integrates with third-party services, including: - **InstantDB** — database, authentication, and file storage - **RevenueCat** — subscription management and payment processing - **OpenAIP** — aerodrome data - **Cloudflare** — backend hosting and PDF rendering - **Google** — Google Sign-In - **Apple** — Apple Sign-In - **Expo** — app framework Your use of these services is also governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the actions of these third parties. --- ### 7. Disclaimers #### 7.1 No Warranty The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that defects will be corrected. #### 7.2 Pilot Responsibility Northlog is a tool to assist with flight logging and currency tracking. You are solely responsible for the accuracy and completeness of the data you enter. The Service should not be relied upon as your sole record for regulatory or legal purposes. Always maintain a backup of your data and verify your currency status independently. #### 7.3 No Aviation Advice The Service does not provide aviation advice, flight planning, or weather information. Always consult official sources and qualified instructors for flight-related decisions. --- ### 8. Limitation of Liability To the maximum extent permitted by law, Northlog shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or revenue, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from: - Your access to or use of or inability to access or use the Service - Any conduct or content of any third party on the Service - Any content obtained from the Service - Unauthorized access, use, or alteration of your transmissions or content Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall not exceed the amount paid by you to Northlog for the Service in the 12 months preceding the claim. --- ### 9. Indemnification You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Northlog, its officers, directors, employees, agents, licensors, and suppliers from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or in any way connected with: - Your access to or use of the Service - Your violation of these Terms - Your violation of any third-party right - Your breach of any applicable law or regulation --- ### 10. Changes to These Terms We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will: - Post the updated Terms here with a revised effective date - Notify you through the app or by email for material changes - The revised Terms take effect immediately upon posting Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. --- ### 11. Termination We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without cause, with or without notice, and at our sole discretion. Upon termination, all licenses granted to you under these Terms shall immediately cease. --- ### 12. Governing Law These Terms shall be governed by the laws of Germany, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Passau, Germany. --- ### 13. Miscellaneous - **Entire Agreement** — These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Northlog regarding the Service - **Severability** — If any provision is found to be invalid, the remaining provisions will remain in full force - **Waiver** — Our failure to enforce any right or provision shall not constitute a waiver of such right or provision - **Assignment** — We may assign these Terms without restriction.
